Faux Blonde Hair!

Summer is here and that means light hair is in season! Blonde hair is perfect for these sunny days.  I have been wanting to go blonde, but have been too afraid to fully commit to bleaching my hair.  I dyed my own hair blonde a few years ago with a box dye and suffered from dry, damaged hair because of it.  I said I would never be blonde again, but I just keep getting the urge to give in.

I picked up a can of the High Beams Intense spray on hair color in the shade #70 Gold from my local beauty supply.  I curled my hair for loose waves and sprayed the bottom half for an ombre look.  The spray made my hair feel really stiff and limp.  I noticed my curls fell a lot faster because of the spray and whenever I touched my hair, it looked like I dipped my hand in a bowl full of gold glitter.  The color got everywhere!

Spray on hair color is a good option for a one-time hairstyle, not if you want to consistently wear the color.  I guess I will just have to suck it up and get my hair colored professionally to have the blonde color I have been fantasizing about for months.

I picked up a few beauty items from the drugstore today! Here's what I got:

1.  TRESSEME DRY SHAMPOO

2. REAL TECHNIQUES STIPPLING BRUSH

3.  EQUATE PINK GRAPEFRUIT WIPES

4.  AMPRO PRO STYL GEL

5.  JAPONESQUE TOUCH UP TUBE

6.  MAYBELLINE DEFINE-A-BROW

I like to keep my makeup very simple and natural looking.  I use these products to achieve the fresh, natural, glowy look I like.

1.  Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser: I use this primer after I cleanse and moisturize my face to create an even base for my makeup.

2,3.  I mix my Revlon ColorStay foundation in the color Caramel with L'oreal True Matchin the color soft sable.  I mix these because the True Match foundation is a little bit more dewy, which is perfect because my skin gets dry in the winter.

4.  VS Pro Flawless FX Powder:  I use this translucent powder to set my foundation.

5. Estee Lauder Set:  I don't wear eyeshadow on a daily basis, but when I do, I use the colors in this set.  However, I use the bronzer in shade Medium 02 to contour and blush in shade Mauve Mystique everyday.  I also use the lip gloss in this set or any other nude gloss I may have.

6Benefit Watts Up Highlighter:  I love this product!  I use it on my cheekbones, my nose, forehead, and cupid's bow to highlight and give me a nice glow.

7 Maybelline Define-A-Brow:  I use this to fill in my brows in the color Medium Brown.  I love this because the color matches my brows perfectly.  The color of my natural brows is really light and this product doesn't make them look unnatural or too harsh.

8.  Maybelline Great Lash Mascara:  I really like this mascara because it's so lightweight and really lengthens my lashes.  It's great for an everyday look because it doesn't really thicken my lashes and create a lot of drama, but simply lengthens and gives them a nice curl.

Winter Mani

I love doing my nails, especially with deep colors.  Winter is the perfect time to wear darker colors on your nails.  For this manicure, I used the OPI Mariah Carey holiday set.  I used this deep, wine color and the shimmery gold color on my accent nail.  I topped it off with an Essie top coat.

My Favorite Foundation

My absolute favorite foundation is Revlon ColorsStay.  There are so many reasons why I love this product.  First off, it lasts all day!  The bottle says the foundation wears for up to 24 hours, and although I've never worn my makeup for that long, I really believe it would last if I did.

I don't wear makeup everyday, so when I do, I don't want to worry about having to touch it up all day.  I never have to touch up with this foundation throughout the  day.  I don't get oily very often, but if I do, I just blot the oil away.

I also love how accessible this foundation is.  It's sold in drugstores, so I don't have to go to a mall and talk to a saleswoman at a counter and listen to her try to sucker me into buying stuff I don't want.

My foundation also looks better and lasts longer when I use a primer before applying it and setting it with a powder after.

My Revlon ColorStay shade: 400 Caramel (Combination/Oily Skin)
